Increase the longevity of your shocks and free from damage with the Rago Fabrication 4th Gen 4Runner shock skids. The rugged angular design creates a guard that can withstand the most demanding trails. In addition to protecting the most exposed part of the shock, the guard also extends to protect the shock shaft from pits and abuse, extending shock life from leaks and tears of the shock shaft seal. Our design also includes a drain hole placed at the lowest point of the guard to prevent lingering of water during water crossings.

Quick Read: Shock Guards, The MVP of Off-Road Armor
The guards are beefy and appear well fabricated. Notes from the install: for a 4th Gen 4Runner, the rear wheels will need to come off to install them. Take the lower bolt off the shock (17 mm socket). My rear shocks are Eibach Pro-dampers. There is a left and a right guard - they look pretty identical until you start to install them and see the top of the guard head towards the rear link - stop and swap. I loosely installed the back long bolt first and then swung the guard up until the lower shock bolt could get started. I hand tightened the lower shock bolt and then started tightening up the rear long bolt using 14mm wrenches. I hand tightened that rear bolt until I had about 1/4 inch of threads coming through the nut. It would be nice to have a torque spec for us anal retentives. The back of the guard did slightly bend in towards the shock mount. Finished torquing the lower shock bolt to 72 ft-lbs (toyo spec). There was an extra set of thinner flat washers included that would fit the long bolt but not sure where they were supposed to go. Feels rock solid now. Note there is not a bunch of clearance between the edge of the shock guard and my factory rim. Hopefully no rocks get stuck there. Almost did not buy these after the first comment posted but I gambled and won. The cheaper Icon shin guards got crap reviews so no reason to waste money on them. Will be heading uphill to Summit County CO soon to try them on the trails.
